Movers & Shakers 2009

The past few days have been a whirlwind. At ACRL I was able to  attend some great talks, meet some facinating people, and help with a few presentations myself. I had hoped to get a lot of my own work done in the evenings or between sessions, but found the conference itself was engaging enough that I didn’t have as much time for that. Last night was a red-eye flight home, and I’m just now recovering from the flight.

So, overall, I was already feeling especially warm-and-fuzzy towards the profession and my network of colleagues.

Then, late yesterday, the Movers & Shakers were announced for 2009. Funnily, I had alerts set up so I would know when it was announced. In today’s quickly paced social networking world, I found out from congratulatory messages on Facebook before anywhere else.

I am absolutely humbled and thrilled to be included in a list of such inspirational people. From the time I learned about the Movers & Shakers awards, I’ve anxiously awaited the Library Journal issue each year, and have saved many of the write-ups as inspiration. Every year the list has blown me away, and I’m having a hard time believing that I am included on it this time.

I am proud to have worked with several 2009 Movers and Shakers in some way:

I am pleased to know so many through meeting at conferences, Twitter, Friendfeed, or blogs:

And next on my schedule is to read up on the rest…. and after that, to read up on folks when the LSW Shovers & Makers awards are announced… :)

Thank you to Library Journal for including me in this humbling group, to Susan for the nomination, and Lynn for the quote. :) And I’ve loved the messages on Facebook, Twitter, Friendfeed, in blog posts, and in email–I’m working on replying to all now!
