Extending the Impact of Online Library Instructional Tools through Collaborative Development

This morning I co-hosted a roundtable with Lauren Ray of the University of Washington. I had no idea what to expect of a roundtable, but it turned out well! Roundtables are held twice at ACRL in a very large room. The room is packed with tables, and each topic gets one. Our table’s discussion focused on online tutorials/videos and how to collaborate on their production. Our group discussed how online tutorials can help librarians save time and provide good service and that the current economic environment, these tools might become more important.  We also talked about how there are some varying perceptions about the point of these tutorials which gets in the way of collaboration on a national scale. The talk was great, and really useful. We brainstormed some potential professional solutions to some of the issues, that I think could potentially be useful and helpful for a lot of people. I’ll let you know if we start to work on any of them. :)
