- Survey asked what percentage of the time played to their strengths: 12%. That’s not very much.
- Identify own strengths and seize control of them. What would the ideal job be?
- Change something that plays towards your strengths, deliberately taking control of your time. Tell others what you’re doing to get their help.
- As you grow your personality changes. Areas that were weaknesses have the most room to grow.
- Positive Emotions: General Framework of Happiness
- Martin Seligman’s Learned Optimism. Authentic Happiness.
- Research shows that being optimistic makes you smarter, increases your social resources, and increases your physical resources and how long you live.
- She cited research by Barbara Frederickson at UNC-Chapel Hill
- large scale AI summit: day 1-2 on discover & dream, day 3-4 on design & destiny
- practical applications: (1) each night write down 3 good things that happened that day and why (2) ask what you want to be known for (3) identify signature strengths (4) share high point in career or life with others (5) don’t wear a watch
- applications in groups: (1) mini-commitments and risks (2) have each person read one article on AI (3) use active, constructive questions
- Recommends talking about good things in meetings and why they were good.
This was a great session! Learned a lot and the speaker had over-prepared. Lots of content here!

There is also a concept called the AIR Equation: the 3-part formula for happiness at http://www.AIRequation.org. The formula says happiness is based on 3 states of being, and to concentrate and building up ourselves and others in these areas.
