a first chapter…

I don’t know that I blogged about it at the time, but I was included in Academic Librarianship by Design: A Blended Librarian’s Guide to the Tools and Techniques by Steven J. Bell, John D. Shank. I have a two page bio (p.14-15) as an example of a blended librarian in training.

Much before this book section, I submitted a chapter for another book. It was based on work I had done during library school. I wrote it at a terribly crazy period of my life (full time work, library school, ALA involvement, planning my wedding) and in retrospect it reads to me as something written during a busy time. But lo and behold, it is now in the book! My chapter is “Educating the Millennial User” in Our New Public, A Changing Clientele: Bewildering Issues or New Challenges for Managing Libraries? edited by James R. Kennedy, Vardaman, Gerard B. McCabe. Yay!

I have another full length book in the works. I’m a little superstitious, so I’m not saying much here, but it’s going well. It’s officially due in the fall, but I’m working to a summer deadline. As it gets closer to done, I’ll let you know!
