Who needs a fancy computer?

Just kidding! :)
But what I’m really interested in right now is my jump drive. It’s one gig, has a ton of files on it, and has Firefox Portable. I’ve loaded Firefox up with all my favorite extensions and I’m amazed at how it changes the feeling of going online, when you know that you can sit at any computer and have the same experience you have at your own.

Then I get to thinking, my email is on gmail. Google has my calendar and many of my documents, too. My photos are (mostly) on Flickr. I have a personal wiki with most of my project management files and personal notes from meetings. Remember the Milk keeps my tasks. All of a sudden, I’m thinking, why do I want a nice computer? All my stuff is online, and I can get online easily as long as I’m using my jump drive. Having a large hard drive would be nice to hold all my music, but I can fit most of it on my phone, so I’m not even totally sure that’s necessary.

But, then again, I haven’t (so far) figured out how to make Firefox Portable work with a Mac. And that, in itself, is enough to convince me that I need a fancy computer. :)

Update: Okay, I’ve found this, so I’m going to give it a go on a Mac. If I can get this to work with my personal computer, I might never run Firefox from a hard drive again!
