does education kill creativity?

Here’s a great video from TEDtalks on schools and creativity. The main argument is that school limits creativity instead of encouraging it. In an environment where we can’t even predict what jobs will be available even five years out, doesn’t it make sense to focus on traits like creativity rather than skills like a specific computer language?

I do think it would be wise to teach children how to exercise traits, but if we do not at the same time give them a skill set — however transient — with which to practice and hone those traits, then would any of what they were taught about exercising traits stick?
