UNC TLT Conference

Whew! What a day! I’ve just finished up the first day of my first UNC TLT Conference. I saw some familiar faces, and met a few people too. It’s a good time.

Like most conferences, some sessions totally get you totally revved up. My favorite happened to be a presentation by a few UNCG folks, “New Online Teaching Strategies: Bringing Theory to Life for More Effective Learning.” It was just really inspiring and made me really excited about the possibilities for truly blended learning experiences. Good stuff!

I also attended the plenary session on “Accelerating Educational Innovation and Transformation Through Learning Communities and Knowledge Networks” which was really good at setting the stage for the conference. The focus was on open platforms and creating real change in how we educate.

Active Learning in the Library: The Library Is Not Just for Books” showed some simple games to teach information literacy concepts and explained a little bit about podcasting.

A Primer on Blended Learning” was just what it claimed to be. I posted a link in del.icio.us that they shared with us. That should show up here in a little bit.

I wrapped up with “What Can Students Learn from Computer-Based Training?” which wasn’t exactly what I expected, but was still interesting.

Now I’m sitting in a coffee shop, taking advantage of free wireless, and getting ready for my Info Ethics and Policy class. More tomorrow!
