I’m spending time playing with Linked In this week. It’s a site I’ve heard a lot about, but haven’t had time to look at. It’s really interesting! Social networking with a purpose! I’m not sure it’s the venue I’d use to look for work or new employees, but it certainly is a great place to find other people who might be interested in collaborating on projects.

It’s also interesting to me how few “library” folks seem to be there. From my own institution, it looks like mostly computer folks are participating. I thought there might be several library folks since social networking is such a big part of Library 2.0. Perhaps it’s because our users aren’t there the way they are on MySpace or Facebook? Perhaps this is the kind of site that would be useful to share with those patrons looking for information about career opportunities, resumes, and marketing oneself.
