Assessing Information Literacy: Incorporating a Systems Approach Using Technology
Dr. Lesley Farmer, California State University, Long Beach
Assessment Process: Cyclic
- observe world around you!
- define the need for assessment
- plan assessment process
- collect data
- analyze
- report results
- plan intervention
- and it starts over again!
Things to consider when assessing:
- Staff, money, materials, facility
- The process (staff and equipment)
- Services used/products used (what are they using?)
- Change in user? Impact?
- The context (university vs. school, etc)
When planning assessment, considers existing standards.
I had to duck out at this point for a staff meeting and class. I’ll do more conference blogging tomorrow!!
