pitching it to them

The CogSci Librarian blog had a great comment about Librarians as Pitchmen. She explains Malclom Gladwell’s description of a pitch and applies it to librarianship. You always hear that you need to repeat things over and over for them to sink in with your audience. In this case, Gladwell recommends four times:

First: Show the audience exactly how “it” works and why.
Second: Show exactly how you are doing it.
Third: Explain how doing “it” fits into their life.
Fourth: Sell the audience on the idea that “it” is easy.

It looks like something I’ll need to try out when my class starts back up again.
