identity & how people use the internet

Fascinating read over at Bokardo about technologies to watch in 2006. I was hooked by the beginning which discusses a shift in thinking from focusing on changes in the back end of the web (Ruby on Rails, Ajax, RSS, etc) to focusing on the changes in how people use the web. This was illustrated with a powerful statement: “They [Yahoo!] claim that while over 1/4 of all Web users consume RSS in one way or another, only 4% know it.”

This piece also delves into the issues of attention, gestures, and identity; all of which are part of the Identity 2.0 concept.
