an RSS internet

I’m crazy about RSS. Really. If your site doesn’t have RSS, and I don’t have a really good reason reason to go to your site (like if I know you have the information you need and I can get a Firefox plug-in to search from my browser), then I’m not going to your page. In fact, you might even call me an RSS bigot. I’ve been pleased to see that I’m not alone lately. Librarian In Black gets 99% of his news through RSS feeds and echoes my thoughts that, “just as for some people if you don’t have an IM account you don’t exist, for me, if a regularly updated site doesn’t have an RSS feed, it doesn’t exist either.” The Shifted Librarian gives examples of patrons’ websites that display what they have checked out from the library via RSS feed. Many libraries are using RSS feeds to push information to their users:

Ann Arbor District Library
Indiana University Kokomo Governmetn Information
Hennepin County Library
Kansas City Public Library
McMaster University
North Carolina State University
Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County
University of Alberta
University of Louisville
Western Illinois University

This is great!
